Concord Speedway readies for 2010 Season

CONCORD, N.C. – Quality, as opposed to quantity, is the goal of the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) racing schedule at Concord Speedway.  Communications with competitors throughout the 2009 season indicated that the down economy had affected the racers and well as the racing fans.  Reacting first to the competitors needs, Concord Speedway is producing an even dozen events under the NASCAR banner and a total of five events for the Pro Late Model division on America’s Super Short Track.

Communications with racing fans indicated that while ticket prices were not overpriced, consumer confidence was down and fans came less often to the track to view the racing.  For 2010 adult general admission for a traditional racing evening has been reduced from $12.00 to $10.00.  Children age 11 and under are still admitted free to all events when accompanied by a ticketed adult.  On the five Pro Late Model events, adult admission is $12.00, same as last season.

The five HUTCHBSR Pro Late Model events have been carefully scheduled so not to interfere with any offset-chassis touring events and our conversations with drivers and car owners have indicated that the number of cars racing in the now non-sanctioned division should improve.

The NASCAR divisions racing this season include the Division One Wilburn Auto Body Late Model Stock Cars; Charger Divisions Coca-Cola Pure Stocks; Tim Marburger Honda Fast and Furious Fours and the Thunderstox.  Thunderstox have raced occasionally in the past at Concord as “Redneck Racers” and “Bootlegger Brigade” divisions without NASCAR sanction.

Concord Speedway is making an effort for the fewer events to be more attractive to races and fans alike with many special attractions this season.
