Concord Speedway drops Summer races from quarter-mile schedule

CONCORD, N.C. – At the request of many Legends and Bandoleros competitors on the quarter-mile track to continue racing during the weeks of the Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Concord Speedway added eight racing events to the summer schedule for the 2010 season.

Concord Speedway was informed this week that the events, on Friday nights from June 11th through August 6th were not approved by INEX for sanction.  Thus, no national points would be awarded to the competitors in those events.  Other scheduled events, however, would be sanctioned as always.

The speedway polled competitors by e-mail as to whether or not they would be interested in competing through the summer anyway and those responding averaged about 70% that they would not be interested in competing without national points.

Therefore, with regret, speedway management today decided that, purely from a business standpoint, the events are being deleted from the schedule.

We are very grateful for the competitors that stated they would race with us regardless.

Our thanks go to you and all our drivers, owners and crews.
