Redneck Racing Series Taking In a Double Shot of Concord

Back-To-Back Races at Concord Motorsport Park Await the "Street Stocks on Steroids"

CONCORD, NC (September 20, 2006) - Concord Motorsport Park is all about speed. It's one of the fastest short tracks in the country. Back in its heyday, the ASA stars competed there. Now the USAR Hooters Pro Cup holds one of its most exciting events there each year. Fans from all over the Eastern Seaboard go there for the North-South Shootout Modified event every fall.

Those events all carry their fair share of excitement and hype, but the high-banked tri-oval in suburban Charlotte, NC has never seen anything like it is going to experience on two consecutive Saturday nights, September 30th and October 7th. The Redneck Racing Series stars and their ground-shaking, exhaust-pouring "Street Stocks on Steroids" racing machines will take to Concord Motorsport Park for a historic double-feature of teeth-rattling excitement.

"It's grassroots racing at its best," said Dwight Davies, Marketing Coordinator of the track. "We are really looking forward to having them to return to Concord Motorsport Park. They are colorful and they put on a great show for the fans, just get on all the message boards and you can see how very popular the series is."

The Redneck Racing Series already competed at the Concord half-mile earlier this season with 20-cars pulling through the gates. Current point leader and two-time winner in the series' inaugural season, Jim Cook took his #00 "Big Shot" machine to victory lane on May 27th. Having also won earlier this season at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC), Cook has a 36-point lead over Rusty Drye's #84 "Vigilante." Drye may not have a win yet this season, but a victory in one or both of the Concord races ahead will help close the gap as the series heads into its stretch run.

"I think Concord is a pretty good match for these cars," said Drye. "We were turning lap times as fast as or faster than their weekly Street Stocks there the last time. "The track, being the way it is with the dog leg and all, adds a totally different dimension then what a lot of us are used to. When you are in the dog leg heading to turn four, or what some people call turn three,it is a lot different than anywhere else you go. It is not hard to get lost back there. I've been lost back there a few times."

If Drye can find his way around Concord in the September 30th or October 5th races, he will have to fight off fellow front-runners Cook, the"Chowderhead" #1 entry fielded by Dale Earnhardt Inc., the "Area 51" machine owned by SPEED broadcaster Bob Dillner, Kirby Allen's "Impact" and Dave Hutchinson's "Ruby Rhino," who is excited to bring his #62 car
back to Concord in the back-to-back weekends to improve on his third-place points standing.

"Concord's pretty high banked," said Hutchinson, who recently moonlighted from the Redneck Racing Series to compete in his first ASA Late Model event at Florence Motor Speedway (SC). "There's really no room for mistakes there. You run so close to the wall there, and of course, the biggest obstacle sometimes can be the traffic that can run you into the wall. Everybody has a lot of respect for each other, so it works out pretty good."
