QUERY AND FOUST SCORE CONCORD WINS

CONCORD, N.C. (July 11, 2005) - Freddie Query of Mooresville and Charlotte's Bo Foust earned victories Saturday night on News Channel 14 Night at the Races at Concord Motorsport Park. For Query, it was his second-consecutive Future Cellular Big-10 Series super late model win while Foust snared his first NASCAR Coca Cola late model stock triumph of the season.

Other winners were: Kenneth Cook of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kyle Beattie of Concord in the 35-lap INEX thunder roadster feature; and Steve Irvin, also of Concord, in the 20-lap Speedway Plumbing pure stock feature.

Point leader Dennis Schoenfeld started second in the 125-lap super late model feature and set the pace at the drop of the green. Query, who started third, quickly took chase and secured the top spot on lap 23.

While Query was strong, he did dodge one near disaster when the car of Heath Hindman of Signal Mountain, Tenn. broke directly in front of him going through the dog-leg - the fastest part of the track. Query swerved and avoided what would have been a violent collision.

Query rolled to his 85th career-victory at the speedway, more than any other driver. Schoenfeld held on to the second spot with Dave Mader III of Mooresville third. Jeremy Pate of Pensacola, Fla. was fourth and Preston Peltier of Concord rallied from the last starting spot to finish fifth.

Shaun Mangum of Monroe jumped from the second-starting spot to the early lead in the 50-lap late model stock feature. His lead was short-lived as a broken rocker arm stud gave the top spot to point leader Travis Sharpe of Swansea, S.C.

Foust started fifth and soon was challenging Sharpe for the win. On lap 25 Foust moved inside exiting the final corner, the cars touched with Sharpe spinning out of control. That gave the top spot to Foust who scored his second-career win at the track.

Rookie John Freeman of Huntersville finished second with Linny White of Colton, Calif. matching his best finish with a third. Justin Hill of Concord and Bryan "Dude" Thomas of Monroe completed the top five.

Wayne Callahan of Monroe took the early lead in the limited late model feature before yielding the top spot to Jay Payne of Thomasville. Payne led until lap 18 when contact with a lapped car sent him crashing into the wall and out of the event.

Cook assumed command of the race and raced to his first of the season and 14th career Concord Motorsport Park victory. Reggie Carroll of Concord finished second with Jimmy Voyles of China Grove third. Brian Pedrick of Denver was fourth and Jeff Melton of Monroe fifth.

Beattie started third in the thunder roadster feature and wasted little time getting to the front. He cruised to his third win of the season and extended his point lead. Drew Calhoun of Southern Pines was second and D.J. Krentz of Huntersville third. David Sugg of Cornelius and Jim Fluharty of Concord rounded out the top five.

Allmon started on the pole and led every lap of the pure stock feature racing to his fourth win of the season. Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant was second with Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord third. Brian Love of Mt. Pleasant finished fourth with Steve Ackerly of Monroe fifth.

Racing resumes Saturday night when it will be Mecklenburg County night at the race track. All residents of Mecklenburg County will be admitted free with proper identification.

On the track, the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series will take center-stage headlined by a 100-lap late model stock feature.
