IT’S BO FOUST AGAIN AT CONCORD
CONCORD, N.C. – Bo Foust of Harrisburg won his third NASCAR Coca-Cola late
model stock feature of the season Saturday night in the 150-lap feature on Red
Pig Café Night at Concord Motorsport Park.
Other winners were: Kenneth Cook of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson’s
Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Steve Irvin of Concord in the
25-lap Golden Gait Trailers pure stock feature; Ben Smith of Harrisburg in
the 15-lap Speedway Plumbing fast and furious fours feature; and Brad Deal of
Mt. Pleasant in the special 10-lap non-winners feature in the fast and
furious fours division.
Billy Lemmons of Salisbury led the first 10 laps of the late model stock
feature before Brad Kurth of Kernersville motored past. Kurth opened up a
sizable advantage until Foust, who started fifth, made it to second and closed the
distance on the leader.
On lap 75 Foust moved inside Kurth entering turn three and took the top
spot. That was all he needed to score the victory over Davin Scites of
Mooresville. Point leader Shane Brafford finished third. A pair of drivers from Monroe –
Andrew Thomas and Shaun Mangum – completed the top five.
The limited late model feature was very competitive with Jeff Melton of
Monroe leading holding the field off for most of the race. On lap 33, Cook was
able to move inside the leader and took the top spot, rolling to his second win
of the season.
Melton maintained the second spot with Ben Hinson of Kannapolis third. Terry
Hoggard of Concord was fourth and Mike Terry of Charlotte fifth.
Alton Boyd of Kannapolis paced the pure stock feature for the first nine
laps before Irvin, who started sixth, moved past. Irvin was never able to get a
comfortable advantage and went on to win the race that ran without a caution
flag.
Steve Ackerly of Monroe finished second with Chad Allmon of Mt. Pleasant
third. Boyd was fourth with Charlotte Hutto of Monroe completing the top five.
Like the pure stocks, the fast and furious four feature went flag-to-flag
with no cautions and Smith led the entire distance. It was his fifth win of the
season aboard his call titled “Sleepy”.
Jeff Smith of Stanfield was second with Brad Deal of Mt. Pleasant third. Deal
also scored the victory in the special 10-lap “non-winners” race for the
fast and furious four drivers.
Racing returns Saturday night with Craftsman Night featuring the four weekly
divisions at the speedway plus the thunder roadsters. Also, the fast and
furious four drivers will take part in a special autograph session.
