James and Miracle victorious at Concord Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – The night and the on-track action was hot Saturday night for Town & Country Ford Night at the Races for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Concord Speedway.  Colt James claimed victory the HUTCHBSR 100-lap Pro Late Model feature driving the Hess Tire & Auto - Hamke Race Cars 2010 Ford Fusion.  Jerry “Doc” Miracle celebrated his first victory in the Wilburn Auto Body Late Model Stock Cars.  Brian Love picked up his fourth-straight trophy in the Coca-Cola Pure Stocks driving the Front End Specialties - Sean Bonawit Motorsports          Dodge, Chad Miller placed the Auto-Tech - Beaver's Honda "ROCKETMAN" Honda in the Country Inns and Suites Victory Lane for the first time this season while Bob Wallace to both competitions in the Town and Country Ford Thunderstox division in the Barry Grant Fuel Systems - Heintz Performance "OFF DUTY" Chevrolet.

Colt James battled through the field after serving a stop and go penalty for jumping a restart early in the race.  Roger Lee Newton also served a penalty for avoidable contact following an incident that sent first-timer Brandon Maloy spinning on the front straight.  Both James and Newton had worked their way into second and third respectively before the half-way point in the race.  Kevin Love led from lap 27 to 64 until Colt James took the spot.  By lap 90, James had earned a two second lead over second place finisher Newton.  Kevin Love finished third.

Jerry Miracle held off Bobby Measmer, Jr. to claim his first win at Concord Speedway in the Wilburn Auto Body Late Model Stock Division.  Miracle had to navigate a myriad of lapped traffic as he dominated the 40 lap, caution-free race.  At the end of the race, only the top three finishers remained on the lead lap, and Miracle and Measmer had a half-lap lead over the rest of the field.  Miracle took first, followed by Measmer in second and points-leader Jay Payne in third.

Brian Love won his fourth race in a row in the Coca-Cola Pure Stock division.  The race started with a battle for the lead between Jeff Melton and Barry Reed, with Reed taking the position on lap two.  Jamile Flaquer took the point from Reed on lap five.  Love took the top spot on lap ten and never looked back.  Love claimed first, followed by Melton in second and Flaquer in third.

Chad Miller won his first race of the 2010 season in the Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours race.  Wayne Harrington dominated the first 15 laps, leaving the other 15 cars to fight for position behind his three second lead.  That all changed when Harrington’s vehicle lost a tire coming out of Turn Three.  Barry Canter restarted in the lead, but Chad Miller was at his door.  The two raced side-by-side, swapping the first spot for several laps.  Miller secured the lead on lap 23, leaving Canter to battle with Irby for second.  Irby claimed the second spot, barely edging out Canter, the third place finisher, maybe the best finish of the evening

Bob Wallace won the first Thunderstox race after surviving 15 laps of racing to take home his third winner’s trophy of the 2010 season.  Kirby Allen and Bob Wallace battled side-by-side for the lead from the line until Turn Three when the two cars collided, sending Allen spinning.  David Knight and Matt Drye tangled in Turn Three, but saved it were able to continue.  The first caution waived on lap 12 when Dalton Tompkins put down oil on the track.  The second caution waived on lap 13 when David Knight and Rusty Drye crashed in Turn One, causing the race to end under Green, White, Checker conditions.  Bob Wallace took the checkers, followed by Matt Drye in second and Rusty Drye in third. Wallace also claimed the win in the second event in a race whittled down to two contestants by contact and mechanical woes.
