SHAUN MANGUM ROLLS TO NASCAR WIN AT CONCORD

CONCORD, N.C. (May 15, 2005) - Shaun Mangum of Monroe, the 2003 track champion, scored his first win of the season Saturday night in the 100-lap NASCAR Coca-Cola Cup late model stock feature at Concord Motorsport Park.

Other winners were: Terry Hoggard of Concord in the 35-lap Tommy Johnson's Motorsports Warehouse limited late model feature; Kyle Beattie of Concord in the 35-lap INEX 600 Racing thunder roadster feature; Kenny Brooks of Concord in the 25-lap Golden Gait Trailers mini stock feature; Brian Love of Mt. Pleasant in the 20-lap New Star Environmental pure stock feature; and Bobby Measmer Jr. of Concord in the 150-lap Speedway Plumbing hornets feature.

Pole starter Roger Lee Newton of Concord jumped to the lead at the start of the late model stock feature, chased by Mangum who started second. He didn't chase for long taking the top spot on lap five.

Mangum set the pace for the remainder of the event earning his 23rd-career victory at the speedway. Newton had a strong run to a second-place finish. Todd Bradburry of Concord, the defending track champion, finished third. Bo Foust of Charlotte was fourth and Justin Hill of Concord completed the top five.

Hoggard has used consistency in the early season to move to the lead in the limited late model point standings. Saturday, he scored his first win of the season extending his point advantage.

Concord drivers Kenneth Cook and John Rary Sr. finished second and third. Brian Pedrick of Denver followed up last week's win with a fourth-place finish and Mark Brooks of Concord finished fifth.

Beattie started sixth in the thunder roadster feature and raced to the front to score his first win of the year at the track. Drew Calhoun of Southern Pines finished second with D.J. Krentz of Huntersville third. Jim Fluharty of Concord and Terry Horak of Charlotte completed the top five.

Brooks started third and raced to his first win of the season in the mini stock feature. David Pennell of China Grove finished second with Marshville's Clint Mills third. Roy Maness of Star was fourth and Curtis Clark of Monroe fifth.

Love continued to be the man to beat in the pure stock division winning his sixth feature in seven races this season. Chad Allmon of Concord was second with Steve Irvin also of Concord third. David Miller of Stanfield finished
fourth and Steve Ackerly of Charlotte completed the top five.

Measmer Jr. also continued his strong season with his fifth win of the season in the hornets division. Ben Smith of Harrisburg was second with Wayne Harrington of China Grove third. Fourth went to Concord's Adam Welch.

Friday night winners at the quarter mile oval were: Josh Waring of Concord in the legends pro division feature; Cotton Spry of Salisbury in the legends masters division feature and Justin Morton of Mt. Pleasant in the legends semi-pro division feature. Bandolero car winners were Bruce Benson II of Lexington in the outlaw division, Mitchell Coble of Mt. Airy in the young guns
division and Ronnie Bassett Jr. of Winston-Salem in the bandits division.

Concord Motorsport Park sits idle this weekend. Racing returns on Saturday May 28 with Troutman Motors night at the races featuring round three of the Future Cellular Big-10 Series.
