Concord Speedway announces 2009 schedule
CONCORD, N.C. – There’s a new brand and a new NASCAR Division 1 for the 2009 season at Concord Speedway.
The new brand: Concord Speedway. For years known as Concord Motorsport Park, the new brand better defines what we are and what we do.
The new NASCAR Division 1: Hutch / BSR Pro Late Model, a division for weekly racing for an offset chassis late model. The 2009 Concord Speedway schedule again offers a wide variety of motorsports featuring the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS). The divisions normally competing in the weekly series on the half-mile TriOval include the chargers divisions of Tim Marburger Honda Fast & Furious Fours, Coca-Cola Pure Stocks, Town & Country Ford Late Models; the Division 1 Hutch / BSR Pro Late Models and in 2009, The Wilburn Auto Body INEX Thunder Cars.
We want to welcome the new Hutch / BSR (formally BSR Products) as the new title sponsor for the new Pro Late Model division. Hutch BSR will carry the Pro Late Model title for two seasons. Also, welcome in Wilburn Auto Body as the sponsor for the INEX Thunder cars who have a home at Concord Speedway for the 2009 season.
Saturday March 21st is opening night for the half-mile with the Capital Bank 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour! The tour modifieds race for 150 laps with supporting events from Fast & Furious Fours, Pure Stocks and Late Models.
The NWAAS programs will normally feature 20 laps Fast & Furious Fours, 30 laps Pure Stocks, 30 laps Thunder Cars, 40 laps Late Models and 60 laps Pro Late Models with special-length events throughout the year for all the NASCAR divisions.
Also making appearances on Concord Speedway’s tricky TriOval in the 2009 season are the USAR Pro Cup Cars (formally Hooter’s Pro Cup) United Auto Racing Association (UARA) Stars tour, The American Speed Association (ASA) Late Model South Series, The Southern Pro Late Model Series (SPLMS) and The 7th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout. Special events in 2009 include the 3rd Annual Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Series General Tire Carolina Super Truck and Tractor Pull, The Dukes of Hazard Stunt Show and The Pebble Pushers Custom car and Truck Show.
Friday nights and some Saturday nights in the Spring and Fall feature INEX Legends and Bandoleros racing on the quarter-mile track. RPM Proformance Legends divisions again include Semi Pro Chargers, Semi Pro, Pro and Masters. The Bandolero divisions again include Beginner Bandits, Bandits, Young Guns and Outlaws.
Wednesday nights during the summer, USAC Ford Focus Midgets and supporting divisions are featured in the “Mid-Week Mayhem” racing series.
